Pharco and Saudi German Health Sign Strategic Healthcare MOU at Africa Health ExCon 2026
Pharco and Saudi German Health Egypt & North Africa signed a strategic memorandum of understanding on June 15, 2026, on the sidelines of Africa Health ExCon 2026 in Cairo. The agreement goes beyond a standard supply arrangement: it covers pharmaceutical supply chain logistics, ongoing training for medical professionals, scientific exchange, and joint sponsorship of healthcare initiatives and medical congresses.
The MOU rests on three pillars. The first centres on scientific research and healthcare excellence, built around an integrated platform for continuing medical education, updated training methods for healthcare professionals, joint scientific conferences and seminars with local and international experts, and ongoing knowledge sharing between the two organisations.
The second pillar is localization and regional expansion. It draws on Pharco's manufacturing base and state-of-the-art facilities in Egypt, and more than 50 years in the industry, to widen access to locally made pharmaceutical products across North Africa, while leaning on Egypt's position as a regional hub for manufacturing and exports. The third pillar is commercial: pairing Pharco's pharmaceutical expertise with Saudi German Health's clinical network and medical reach to expand patient access to treatments in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological disorders, and anti-infectives.
"At Pharco, we believe that strategic partnerships are more than conventional agreements; they represent a national and regional responsibility toward advancing the future of healthcare in Egypt and across the region," said Dr. Sherine Helmy, Chairman of Pharco's Board of Directors. "Our partnership with Saudi German Health Egypt marks a significant step forward in our approach, bringing together the strength of advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, outstanding clinical expertise, and cutting-edge scientific knowledge to deliver an integrated healthcare experience for patients in Egypt and beyond."
"For more than five decades, Pharco has remained committed to playing a leading role in providing high-quality medicines across Egypt and the region," Helmy added. "We are equally committed to collaborating with leading healthcare institutions and organisations that share our vision and ambition to improve healthcare outcomes and create lasting value for patients."
The signing took place while Pharco was showcasing its manufacturing capabilities and product lines at Africa Health ExCon, now in its fifth edition and running June 15 to 18 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center. Egyptian Drug Authority Chairman Ali El-Ghamrawy visited Pharco's stand during the event, as did Professor Emile Bienvenu, Chairman of the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, both briefed on the company's products and manufacturing capabilities.
Pharco's portfolio spans more than 250 products across therapeutic areas including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological disorders, anti-infectives, gastrointestinal disease, and pain management, alongside medical nutrition and biologic therapies. The company frames the Saudi German Health agreement as part of a broader push to reduce Egypt's reliance on pharmaceutical imports and expand the reach of Egyptian-made medicines across the region.
